The last big moment of my class this year was the Jedi Masters Knighting Ceremony. Yes, we did the school awards but I wanted my crew members to know that I noticed how well they hula hooped, danced, read for the love of reading, wrote for the love of writing and sprawled out in every direction in an effort to be comfortable in those dear little brown chairs all day long. A more like family friend, who has been all manner of characters for my boys at their birthday parties, dressed in a brown Jedi robe and knighted each of my students as they came forward to receive a certificate for  best freeze tagger or asking the most questions with a real (glass and neon gas) light saber.  I KNOW!!!!! So they all were given a light saber (pool noodle type no for real..my husband cut pool noodles in half ) We ate blue cupcakes with yellow stars thanks to a super awesome parent who supplied us with cupcakes all year. Getting to have cupcakes on demand has given me the I can have more than two parties this year even though that is all we are allowed in the handbook because I have my own personal cupcake baker attitude but, as if I don't have enough reasons to get sniffle y over the end of the year, that will end as her child heads to third grade. I put together a prezi of pictures and we looked back through the school year at all the cool things we did. We cleaned up the classroom, took down all the rockets and then it happened...the bell ran and it was summer. I hope they will always remember second grade.
